Grants for starting a business in Worcestershire

60% of new businesses fail in the first 3 years. We want to change that in West Yorkshire by helping you to build and grow your new business with the right tools, knowledge, and networks in place.

Eligibility:

  • The business is trading, and has been trading less than 3 years (We will consider active trading rather than the technical trading start date – Beginning of invoicing / charging for good and services)
  • Aims to achieve a VAT threshold (currently £85,000 per annum) level of turnover within 2 years
  • Ambitions to recruit and build the team within 12 months
  • Be based in West Yorkshire (Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Wakefield, and Leeds).
  • Be an SME and trading B2B (selling to other businesses). Or B2C (selling to consumers) but only if more than 50% of turnover is derived from customers located outside of the West Yorkshire geography

Start Up Grants

Staffordshire Start Up  Grants of up to £2,000 to young people in Staffordshire or Shropshire who need support with business start-up costs that they would otherwise not be able to afford, and particularly those who are not in education, employment, or training. This is not a loan scheme and recipients do not need to pay the grant back.

Individuals can apply if you:

  • Are aged 18 to 30.
  • Applications can only be from sole traders/limited companies that have been trading for less than 2 years.
  • Applications solely for “business ideas” will not be considered. You must be able to give evidence of significant steps taken to get your business off the ground.
  • Applications must demonstrate a financial need for the grant.
  • Applications can only come from businesses that have a business bank account.
  • Applications must detail a specific use for the grant, with quotes provided.
